Elena Hartwell

Elena Hartwell started out her storytelling career in the theater. She worked for several years as a playwright, director, designer, technician, and educator before becoming a novelist.

She holds a BA in Mass Media Communication from the University of San Diego, a Master in Education with an emphasis in teaching theater from the University of Washington, and a Ph.D in dramatic theory and criticism from the University of Georgia. 

She lives in North Bend, Washington, with her husband, two cats, and the greatest dog in the world. When she’s not writing, or working one-on-one as a developmental editor or teaching writing workshops, she can be found at the stables down the road, playing with her horses. 

She also writes under the name Elena Taylor.
