Rebecca Wellman

A visual artist from an early age, Rebecca Wellman has been taking photographs almost all of her life. She has also had a strong love for beautiful food, and all things culinary. Eventually, those two things collided into a joyful career.

Ms. Wellman had the great pleasure of growing up on the west coast of Canada, where fresh food is abundant, makers and bakers are aplenty, and healthy and delicious eating go hand-in-hand. She has a deep love for food—growing, cooking, eating and photographing in a way that makes our mouths water. A stack of cookbooks bedside, she reads them like novels, becoming slightly obsessed with both the chefs and their unique crafts, anticipation growing at the prospect of new techniques, recipes and flavors.

In recent years, she began writing and photographing her own column for Homes and Living magazine; cooked, styled and shot over 75 recipes for the Outlander Kitchen Cookbook for Random House; has recipe developed, written and photographed for EAT magazine; has worked on set with the folks from The Food Network Canada; and most recently, has written her own cookbook. First, We Brunch is a series of recipes and essays highlighting Victoria BC’s incredibly robust brunch culture.

She continues to live on Vancouver Island, enjoying all the west coast has to offer.
