Shannon Maxwell has been a recognized advocate for wounded families following her husband’s traumatic brain injury in Iraq in 2004. A writer and mother of three, she lives in Virginia.

Liza Biggers is a freelance artist. She was one of the primary caregivers for her brother, Ethan, who was shot in Iraq and later succumbed to his wounds. She lives with her husband in New York.
