Finally, a book that will challenge the fashion knowledge of the vast majority of those who consider themselves fashion authorities or extremely fashion educated. FUCT refers readers to a moment in the fashion continuum that contributed to the evolution of street wear as well as being a truly transcendent episode in fashion.

FUCT was a brand as well as what most night consider a “movement” that insinuated itself into fashion in the same way that blue jeans did all those years ago. Is there a day that goes by that you do not see a printed T-shirt with a commemorative photographic image? Is there a day that passes that you don’t see a young person, sometimes a misguided older adult, in a T-shirt riddled with skulls or religious iconography? What about those provocative sayings printed on T-shirts, those intended to get a rise out of us?

To think that this entire concept was dreamed up over 20 years ago is something that is hard to fathom. To imagine that the entire concept and realization is something that permeates every area of the fashion world is equally incredible.

FUCT by Erik Brunett provides a rare opportunity to learn something more arcane about fashion. My guess is there are few boomers who are aware of FUCT as they were already grown by this time and were heading toward being grandparents rather than being hip and trendy.

For younger readers or those who are not as exposed to the world of fashion, this is your opportunity to round out your current reservoir of fashion knowledge. In other, more basic terms, if you really want to know the where, when and when of how a trend begins, you need to go out and buy this book and read it and know this was indeed an earth shattering moment in the evolution of fashion that did not occur on a runway but on the chests and backs of young people pounding the pavements of cities large and small.
