Coloring for Grown-Ups: The Adult Activity Book
“. . . definitely not for children.”
Coloring for Grown-Ups: The Adult Activity Book is a wonderfully playful book for adults with a healthy sense of humor. It is a hilarious compilation of classic coloring book exercises infused with the funnybone tickling realities of day-to-day adult life in 2012.
Authors Hunter and Jensen have a penchant for poking fun at hipsters—and they happen to be incredibly comical. Some of the comparisons they’ve defined are Hipster or Homeless, Hipster or Hijacker, Hipster or Hedge Funder, and Hipster or Hooker.
This book is an experience. Hunter and Jensen build activities based on common stereotypes and encourage readers to free their thinking and challenge those stereotypes. The exercises will make you laugh, both at the book and yourself. If you’re a cat person you might enjoy the task of coming up with eleven cat names. If you’re more cerebral you’ll like a go at conceptualizing the “perfect prescription drug.” Someone more visual might spark to envisioning themselves of a different race and creating a mask of what they might look like.
It's an unconventional coffee table book, not in its beauty, but its content. It's fun to leave it out, I guarantee your guests will be intrigued. Visually it will remind them of their childhood, but the real focus of Coloring for Grown-Ups is surprisingly adult.
Coloring for Grown-Ups is definitely not for children. A word of caution: If you are offended easily, put the book right back down on the table and go find a sketch pad instead.
