“The Buddy Files: The Case of the School Ghost is filled with suspense, mystery, and fun for the young reader. Mr. Tugeau’s delightful illustrations enhance the text with whimsy and add personality to the characters.”

Buddy is one exceptional dog. Not only is he best friends with his human companion, Conner, but Buddy is also a detective. He can solve crimes and has done so in the past.

Connor and his fourth-grade class are having a sleepover at their school, a tradition for the children. Everyone has heard the tale of Agatha, the ghost who haunts the school, and Buddy, who is fortunate to be included in the sleepover, is determined to find out if this fable is true.

Before leaving home, Connor finds a mysterious box left on his front steps. It contains a flashlight and two pieces of paper. At the time, Buddy is outside, when Cat With No Name, from next door pops out of an overhanging tree branch with a message from Agatha: “Stay out of the basement!”

Not long after everyone arrives at the school, a storm erupts with heavy winds, thunder, lightning and pounding rain. This only adds to the excitement surrounding the search for Agatha.

Buddy sniffs around, trying to find clues as to Agatha’s whereabouts or even if she exists, while Connor and his friends, Michael and Jillian do their own investigating.
