Sherry Shahan

Sherry Shahan is the author of the picture book Fiesta! A Celebration of Latino Festivals, and two adventure novels: Death Mountain and Frozen Stiff. She attended high school in Los Angeles during the tumultuous 1960s; and her friends were not entirely unlike the characters in Purple Daze. Amazingly enough, she kept letters from a friend who served in Vietnam. One day, more than 40 years later, she opened the shoebox where they were stored. These letters inspired the fictional character Phil.

Ms. Shahan holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She lives in a small California beach town.
