Angela Watkins Farris Watkins

Angela Farris Watkins, Ph.D., is Martin Luther King Jr.’s niece. An associate professor of psychology at Spellman College, she has a degree in early childhood education and a doctorate in educational psychology. She wrote a previous book about her uncle entitled My Uncle Martin’s Big Heart: A Story About Martin Luther King Jr. Through the Eyes of His Niece.

Eric Velasquez is the illustrator of numerous picture books, including My Friend Maya Loves to Dance. He is the recipient of the Coretta Scott King–John Steptoe Award.
