This story teaches a great life lesson.

The White-Footed Mouse is about a boy who is certain he has the world's best father, an outdoorsman who shows him the hiding places of ground-nesting birds and how to safely handle a rifle. "Never point your gun at anything you don't intend to shoot," his father tells him, "and don't kill anything you don't intend to eat."

That lesson gets reminded to the father in a situation dealing with a tiny, shivering white-footed mouse.

This is a charming 32-page picture book boys will delight in. Time with a father is precious, but many times lessons about nature and life are learned by both parent and child.
