“Just like meditation, coloring also allows us to switch off our brains from other thoughts and focus only on the moment, helping to alleviate free-floating anxiety. It can be particularly effective for people who aren't comfortable with more creatively expressive forms of art.” —Art Therapy program at NYU

This is not a coloring book for a four year old experimenting with crayons and trying to stay “in the lines.” Matthew Williamson has offered us a peek inside his designing mind and what has influenced his work and why. The pithy text is on target and self-explanatory with no extraneous information.

The prospective reader will find a selection of prints the designer has used within his 20-year body of work, including home furnishings such as textiles and wall coverings. Besides the common thread of “authorship” you will find that Williamson has been greatly influenced by nature and all that inhabits that world. Think butterflies, pineapples, and palm fronds.

This niche book will provide a quick glimpse into segments of Williamson’s two decades of designing. Matthew Williamson: Fashion, Print & Coloring Book might be the ideal Christmas gift that unlocks the inner child. On the flip side, this is a great book to bestow upon the aspiring designer or the creatively inclined.
