“. . . luxurious . . .”

What should strike the reader here is that this epic sleeved volume has much more to say than just the exquisite photos. Amber, Guinevere, and Kate truly enlightens.

Mathias Augustyniak sets the stage during his introductory comments and allows the models to help reinforce what he explains. His text is a bit convoluted, but by the time Glenn O’Brien is done with his interviews, all will crystallize.

One of the more important aspects of the book is that Generation X readers can glean far more as they will have experienced the paradigm shift from analog photography to digital. Chances are if you don’t understand the last sentence then you are not as engaged as you might have thought concerning the changes that have occurred in the field of photography.

Regardless, a very informative and telling section of the book is the series of short interviews with the three models who are the subject of the text. Kate, Guinevere, and Amber are extremely forthcoming about Craig McDean, and in being so candid, they reveal so much about what really goes between a model and a photographer during a photo shoot. These women reveal a dynamic that might only compare to that between a director and movie star or acting coach. Furthermore, it provides a crash course in workplace relationships developing into real friendships.

The luxurious volume is surely a notable gift to a fan of either of the models or of fashion photography. Rest assured that Amber, Guinevere, and Kate will educate those who are not as informed on any of these subjects as well as for those who only possess the barest amount of fashion acumen. This jaded reader was pleasantly surprised.
