“When you see yourself as different, I see you as unique.”
—Alexi Lubomirski

Make no mistake that this brilliant photographer/artist lives up to and validates those words with an amazing book of exquisitely unique and beautiful people. Some of the faces and/or names you might recognize and some are just ordinary people, but every single one of them is celebrated by this lensman in a most glorious way.

Lubomirski lays bare some of the closed door issues that populate the world of fashion but are never really addressed publicly or directly. He single handedly not only challenges those politically incorrect and stilted ideas but he truly squashes these notions with proof.

This is a book that should be spoken of in reverential tones not only within the fashion community but as parents to children reaffirming, explaining, and proving that everyone is beautiful in their own way. It is not to say that the talents and components of the Lubomirski skillset are not front and center as without question his talent is extremely evident and essential to each photo. It should be noted that the photos are not products of hyper photo shopping if any at all; each of the results is quite compelling when it comes to making his point.

Yes, this is a book that demands to be owned, read, examined, and reread many times over because its appeal is so varied and yet so important given the hot button issues of today’s youth and how we perceive beauty. This reviewer was quite taken by the book, the photography, and its content.

Lastly, the proceeds of the book will benefit a charity, Concern Worldwide, which devotes itself to wiping out extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Consider ownership a way of saying thank you to Alex Lubomirski for being brave enough to produce such a book.
